The reason I’m against Trump isn’t really because of his policy in Israel, so I’ll still dislike him just as much for the same reasons. So I don’t have any need to convince myself that the ceasefire was bad to preserve my ideology or something. That’s how mindless people end up getting tricked into stupid or wrong opinions that they then get punished for, by not being able to comprehend the idea that their enemy may happen to be right about *something*, that doesn’t make them more right about the things you know them to be wrong about. It's a good deal. I am skeptical, but if it leads to peace in the region, great. The cease fire deal comes after two years of leveling Gaza, displacing people who lived there, and murdering thousands of civilians. So, while is is great that this deal got done, it doesn't mitigate the fact that Trump gave Netanyahu carte blanche to level Gaza.

I highly doubt trump was the actual one to negotiate or come up with the deal and I doubt the deal will hold. But I’m absolutely willing to put my foot in my mouth if I’m wrong. Honestly, I’d like more specifics on the details of the deal and to wait a couple of weeks to see if it actually holds before I can confidently make any judgement.

Obviously everyone wants the genocide and killings and kidnappings to stop, and it’s a good thing if they do. If what Trump supporters want is for him to get credit for such a thing so they can finally feel vindicated for their support of him, then I guess it’s fair to give credit where it’s due. 

But Trump supporters also need to realize that many things can be true at once, and this deal hasn’t exactly solved anything quite yet. For one, let’s not forget that the genocide has already occurred thanks to Trump’s bestie Netanyahu. Its essentially like 2 bullies beating a kid up so much until he’s nothing but broken bones and a pile of blood on the ground and then they say “OK, let’s be peaceful and stop the fighting”. Don’t forget it was mere months ago that Trump was tweeting out AI videos of him and Netanyahu sharing cocktails in a Gaza that they turned into a resort while he pitched removing all the Palestinians. And also, how long will this last?

It also should be said that we have every right to continue hating Trump for the violence, discord, and divisiveness that he’s sowing in this country every day while he calls Democrats “terrorists” and sends ICE into cities to terrorize them. Meanwhile, he’s taking bribes and enriching himself and his friends while the economy crashes, he’s still protecting pedophiles by not releasing the Epstein files, and he still using the DOJ to settle his personal scores and threatening the integrity of our elections. 

Whatever success in Gaza you want him to get credit for, it doesn’t overshadow everything else that he’s doing in this country every day. No offense to the dead, but I personally care more about what’s happening in my own country that I see with my own eyes and feel in my own wallet. So if any Rep thinks that they can respond to a criticism of him with “But he stopped the war in Gaza”, then IMO you can get F-ed.

Hopeful that the killing will end, but skeptical. I remember that 'Amalek' was referenced at the beginning of the escalation of the conflict. This may just be another ceasefire. It's too early to tell and it's not over until it's over. If truly is, then I will give the Trump admin credit.

Credit where it's due, it's a ceasefire I've been hopeful for.  I will say, I would rather give credit to Rubio than Trump on it. From what I've seen, he doesn't seem so informed about the deal itself outside of it being a thing. Rubio has surprised me a bit by being a decent SoS, at least from what I've seen. But credit uktimately goes to the administration's head, which is Trump.

What I will *really* give credit for is what comes next. We need to support reconstruction efforts in Gaza, support a permanent and peaceful end to this conflict (as we're *far* too invested in Israel to just let this continue being an issue), and hold *all* parties accountable for their actions. That last point is very big. Israel was committing war crimes, or at the very least, should be charged and tried for the possibility of having done so. We know for a fact they were targeting civilian infrastructure to encourage a surrender and actively creating a famine to kill through starvation to encourage a surrender. There is a strong argument that Israel was committing Genocide. There is strong evidence to suggest inhumane treatment of detainees. 

I am NOT saying Hamas/Palestine should not face reprocussions for their role or actions in this conflict. Not by any means. But every piece of available evidence shows Israel was a greater aggressor throughout the conflict, and was doing some heinous things, and it should be held completely accountable. At the *very least* Israel should fund (but not perform) the reconstruction of Gaza and affected Palestinian non-military territory.

It was the strikes in Qatar that finally convinced Hamas to accept a peace deal. Not being able to hide in a luxury penthouse in Doha while normal Palestinians pay the price for the war you started changes things.

It’s close to Bidens proposal, but unlike under Biden, Israel in time dismantled hezbollah, smacked Iran, and took out most of Hamas’s lesdership. They were in an even better position, and Hamas knew it.

Besides, Trump basically promised Israel free reign if Hamas didn’t accept the deal, a promise Biden never could give.

I think the combination here allowed the deal to go through. Not very optimistic of it’s full implementation, but time will tell.

Biden failed because he didn't know how to wield power. He mostly hid in the shadows and didn't really try to influence anything. He never tried to stop the Ukr/Rus war, never tried to stop the Gaza one either. How can someone with such enormous influence be so timid?

Personally I think he just wasn't there. The younger Biden was fiesty, the older one was not there and you could clearly tell others were making decisions for him and serving their own interests

Why is no-one talking about the fact Trump's Abraham Accords paved the way for this? That Netanyahu knew about the planned attack and did nothing, not in the year preceeding it, and not on the day that it happened. 

He refused an independent inquiry into why multiple warnings were ignored, and why the attack was allowed to continue for 8hrs. When the victims' families pressed for it, they were beaten by state police.

There'll be no peace until Netanyahu and Trump are behind bars.
